Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Help us build ChaiBuilder, the open-core, white-label website builder that SaaS platforms build into their products so every customer gets a website. We are looking for a product-focused developer who can take a spec all the way to production, hold a high bar on code quality and help our junior developers grow. React and Next.js are your home turf, and you work AI-first.

About ChaiBuilder

ChaiBuilder is the open-core, white-label website builder that runs inside SaaS products. Platforms install it as npm packages in their Next.js app, build each customer's site from the data they already hold, and let customers edit and publish their own pages live. It is self-hosted on the platform's own database, has an in-builder AI assistant, and ships a built-in MCP server where AI agents draft changes for a person to approve. We are a small, remote team at OuterEdge Lab, based in Pune. Everyone here ships real product, talks directly to users and owns their work end to end.

How we work: AI-first

AI coding agents are part of how we build every day, from planning and scaffolding to refactoring, testing and reviews. We expect you to be fluent with tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot and to use them to move fast.

Speed is only half the job. You stay accountable for what ships: you read the code AI writes, catch its mistakes, and know when to take the wheel yourself.

What you will do

  • Architectural execution: Take requirements and high-level technical architecture and turn them into structured, actionable sprint tickets and working applications.
  • Code quality and reviews: Run rigorous code reviews, keep engineering standards high and make sure the code is robust and scalable across the stack.
  • Mentorship and unblocking: Mentor, guide and unblock junior developers every day to speed up their technical growth and delivery.
  • Issue and project management: Break complex features into manageable issues, keep a clean backlog and build reliable systems for smooth feature delivery.
  • Workflow and AI optimization: Keep improving our development pipelines, coding processes and AI-assisted development workflows for the team.
  • Occasional stakeholder syncs: Step in for technical clarifications or demos when needed. Day to day, your focus stays on execution and engineering.

What we are looking for

  • Experience: 4-5 years of professional software development, turning requirements into production-ready applications.
  • Core tech stack: Deep proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript and related modern web frameworks, with strong backend, API and database fundamentals.
  • Leadership and coaching: A track record of leading code reviews, spotting anti-patterns and coaching junior developers.
  • Process and tooling mindset: Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot and LLM workflows, and a drive to improve team developer experience (DX) and issue tracking.
  • Ownership: A proactive, product-focused problem-solver who can take a feature spec and drive it to production with minimal hand-holding.
  • Clear written communication for a remote team
  • Your own laptop that can comfortably run a modern Next.js development setup

Preferred

  • Experience working with a CMS, headless or traditional

Nice to have

  • Backend experience with servers: Node.js APIs, databases, deploying and running services
  • Open source contributions or npm packages you maintain
  • Experience building editors, drag-and-drop interfaces or developer tools
