Build a website builder that anybody can use , and where the user actually owns their data and infrastructure.

Anybody can use it

Low-code, not no-code. It meets you where you are: a designer arranging blocks, a developer writing code, or an AI agent working through the MCP server.

Your data lives in your database. Your infrastructure is yours to run, move, or fork. Nothing is held behind a login you don't control.

You bring your own database, SQLite or Postgres. Every page, user and edit, whether a person or an agent made it, lives there. ChaiBuilder has no access to it.

Our Story

The same problem, years in the making

2021
A hobby project

Started part-time by the founder

Already deep in website builders with two earlier ones built in their career, the founder began ChaiBuilder as a side project. No team, no funding. Just conviction that the problem was worth solving properly.

Pre-AI experiments

Many attempts, hard lessons

Multiple iterations, including a website builder and a code generator. Each attempt revealed what worked and what didn't. The hard part was never building a builder; it was building one that was both usable and truly owned by the user.

The pivot
AI changes everything

Direction changed, team pivoted

As AI matured, the approach that had eluded years of experimentation became possible. The team pivoted, and today's product is the direct result. AI didn't replace the vision; it unlocked it.

This isn't a v1 from a standing start. It's the distillation of years of trying to solve the same problem the right way.

A complete package, ready to deploy

A React and Next.js website builder for agents and humans. People edit visually, AI agents edit through the built-in MCP server, and you self-host and own all of it, for one site or thousands.

The core builder is open source and embeddable in any React app. The licensed chaipro adds what a platform needs on top: multi-tenancy, roles, revisions, the MCP server and more.
