Questions about data and license ownership

Where does customer website content and media live?

All page JSON, settings, and revisions live in your own PostgreSQL or SQLite database, and all uploaded images live in your own S3 or Cloudflare R2 bucket. ChaiBuilder has no access to any of it.

Do you offer a vendor-hosted or managed cloud option?

No. ChaiBuilder is always self-hosted on your own infrastructure and database so that customer websites live natively inside your product and compliance boundary. Our Build Services team helps you configure and deploy it in your cloud.

What happens to our live customer websites if we decide not to renew our Pro license?

Every customer website continues running normally. Your license is perpetual for the versions released during your active license window; choosing not to renew simply stops eligibility for future version upgrades.

Does the AI assistant or MCP server send data through ChaiBuilder's servers?

Never. The in-builder AI assistant connects directly from your deployment to your own AI provider keys (such as Vercel AI Gateway or OpenRouter), and the MCP server runs at /api/mcp on your own domain.
