Delivered as code

Own your data.
Own your infrastructure.
Own the whole thing.

ChaiBuilder is delivered as code, not a hosted service. Your content, users, and infrastructure live in systems you control. ChaiBuilder has no access.

The hosted platform trap

You build it. They own it.

On hosted website builders, everything you make lives on someone else's platform.

01

Your work runs on their servers

With Webflow, Wix, or Squarespace, everything you build and deploy runs on the vendor's infrastructure. Your content, your registered users, and every action you take belong to their platform, not to you.

02

Features are held behind plans

The feature you need is always one tier up. Hosted builders gate capabilities by plan, so growing your site means growing your bill.

03

Leaving is expensive

Your pages, content, and setup are locked to a platform you don't control. Migrating away means rebuilding, not moving.

Ownership by Design

Own everything you build

01

Own your data

Bring your own database - Postgres, SQLite, or any supported storage. All website content, registered users, and actions live in your database. ChaiBuilder has no access to any of it.

02

Own your infrastructure

ChaiBuilder is delivered as code you deploy on your own stack. You host it, you run it - there is no vendor-hosted runtime for your site.

03

No feature tiers

Every license unlocks the entire product. Plans differ by domains and branding, never by features. There are no feature flags and nothing to upgrade into.

Ownership isn't a plan tier or an add-on here - it's the architecture.

01

Bring your own storage

SQLite or Postgres, chosen and owned by you.

02

Everything lives there

All website content, registered users, and every action live in your database. ChaiBuilder has no access to any of it.

03

Independent tables

ChaiBuilder maintains its own tables for pages, separate from your CMS collections. There is no coupling to unwind.

01

Self-hosted by design

ChaiBuilder is software you deploy on your own stack. You own and run the hosting around it.

02

No vendor-hosted runtime

There is no ChaiBuilder cloud your site depends on. If we disappeared tomorrow, your site would keep running.

Pillar 03 · Commercial Ownership

01

No feature flags

Every license unlocks the entire feature set. There is no per-feature gating and nothing to upgrade into.

02

Plans differ by scope, not capability

Licenses and domains, branding, delivery, and support are what change between plans - never features.

From one command to published, in four steps

  1. 1

    Create your project

    Run npx chaibuilder-app create

The CLI scaffolds a Next.js + Payload CMS project with chaipro set up and walks you through configuration - database, environment, the works.

  2. 2

    Deploy to your server

Your hosting, your database. The 30-day trial starts when you deploy - no credit card, no email.

  3. 3

    Build visually

Create pages, sections, and content on the visual canvas, with the AI assistant alongside.

  4. 4

    Publish in one click

Changes go live in a single action.

Pages render with SSG + ISR - each page is built on its first visit, cached, and automatically revalidated when you publish.

Open Source

Open source at the core

The core builder is open source

chaicore is a basic Next.js website builder: visual builder, SQLite page storage, and rendering. You can self-host and inspect end to end. It also exports a pure <ChaiBuilderEditor /> React component you can embed in any React app. The chaibuilder-app CLI is open source too, so you can see exactly what it scaffolds. A runnable builder, not a black box.

chaipro adds Pro extensions

The paid npm package is the chaicore core plus a set of Pro extensions: roles, revisions, multilingual, redirects, media management, animations, advanced AI, multi-tenancy, and more. That is what makes it the professional product.

Inspectable. Self-hostable. Yours.
Ownership

Ownership & your data

Where does my data live, and does ChaiBuilder have access?

In your own database - SQLite or Postgres. All website content, registered users, and actions live there. ChaiBuilder has no access to any of it.

Who owns and runs the infrastructure?

You do. ChaiBuilder is delivered as code you self-host; there is no vendor-hosted runtime for your site.

Can I move off ChaiBuilder later?

Yes. A deployed site is a plain Next.js + Payload app on your own database and hosting, so there is no vendor lock-in to unwind.
