© ChaiBuilder. All rights reserved.

ChaiBuilder ships under two licenses: an open-source core anyone can use freely, and a commercial license for the professional product. This page explains both, and exactly what a commercial license lets you do.
1. The open-source core - MIT
chaicore - the core builder, including the embeddable <ChaiBuilderEditor /> React component and the basic Next.js website builder - is open source under the MIT License, as is the chaibuilder-app CLI. You can use, modify, and redistribute them freely under that license's terms, for any purpose, commercial or not. The authoritative license text lives in each repository: github.com/chaibuilder/core and github.com/chaibuilder/cli.
2. The commercial license - chaipro
chaipro is the chaicore core plus the Pro extensions, licensed per year, per license key, by OuterEdge Lab Pvt Ltd. Every plan includes the entire feature set - plans differ by domains, branding, delivery, and support, never by features.
3. How the license term works
A chaipro license is perpetual within a version window. Buying gives you a license valid through the end of your year, and the right to run any chaipro version released within that window - forever. When the license expires, versions released after your window are no longer eligible: the builder will prompt you to renew or continue on the last version released within it. An expired license never breaks an existing deployment.
4. The trial
Every deployment includes a 30-day free trial - no credit card, no email, full feature set. The trial starts when you deploy and requires no license key. After 30 days, a license key (set in your environment) is required to keep chaipro unlocked.
5. What a license lets you do
chaipro on the number of domains your plan allows, for yourself or for clients - building and handing off client sites is exactly what the Studio and Agency plans are for. Each production domain counts toward your plan's domain allowance; staging and local development don't [TBD: confirm staging/localhost exemption].6. What a license doesn't let you do
chaipro package or its Pro extensions, or offer them (or a derivative) as a product of your own. Offering ChaiBuilder as a service to many tenants is what the White Label Solution and Custom Integration licenses are for.7. Renewal, and what happens if you don't
Your license renews automatically each year at the then-current price, extending your version window so you stay eligible for current versions. You can cancel auto-renewal anytime before the renewal date - through your payment processor's receipt or portal, or by writing to support@chaibuilder.com. If you cancel and your license lapses, everything you already have keeps working; you simply stay on the last version your window covers. Renew again whenever you want to move to current versions - there's no penalty or back-payment for lapsed time [TBD: confirm no back-payment on lapsed renewal].
8. Refunds
There are none - the trial is how you validate fit. See the Refund Policy.
